The Grass Is Always Greener....

I don't even need to finish that particular idiom. It's one I have heard many times during my life - usually by people that have mistakenly taken my expression of interest in something to be a desire to have it.

My answer, if I ever hear that again is going to be "No, it's just a different shade of green".

I loved this visit to Australia. I adored almost everything about the country from flora & fauna through to food & shopping. Without doubt the contrasts within the areas we visited had me spellbound & I didn't want to come home (much less back to shaky ground!!). Heck, I was even enthralled with the rain!! But the point is that I was there as a visitor.

So is the grass greener on the other side of the 'ditch'? No, it's just a different shade of green, but right now I'm still quite enamoured with that particular shade!

Inspiration (& creating a need)

Silly me! I should have known better than to click on that 'Events' newsletter that arrived in my inbox.

What caught my attention was this image....

Isn't it fabulous? I don't even like green or yellow that much, but this image just drew me in. Maybe it was the costuming - I am a sucker for anything to do with costuming of any sort, historical, theatrical, dance, stage & shows, cultural - you name it, if it involves fibre, fabrics & colour I love it.

Of course this just had to be the picture for the latest Cirque du Soleil show to visit New Zealand "Dralion", described as
"the fusion of ancient Chinese circus tradition and the avant-garde approach of Cirque du Soleil. The shows name is drawn from its two main symbols: the dragon, representing the East, and the lion, representing the West. Dralion derives much of its inspiration from Eastern philosophy with its perpetual quest for harmony between humankind and nature."

I'd love to go, it's been years since I went to any type of show, but alas the Cirque du Soliel is only on in Auckland.

Never mind - that image has been enough to make me want to try the colours, somehow in a bead.

To Dream

"If a little dreaming is dangerous, the cure for it is not to dream less but to dream more, to dream all the time." Marcel Proust

A while ago I saw a house that was for sale, with an expanse of undeveloped land around it. Not the home of my dreams (my tastes run in the opposite direction in fact) - but I love the verandah, the fact that it is a light colour brick, & most of all I liked the situation of the house. It fuelled my dreams of space & no 6" high fences.... not to mention no shared driveways & no disturbed or disturbing neighbours ;o)

Of course I love nothing more than a blank palette & the possibilities of what I could do with the garden started crowding in immediately.

How is that for a front yard....even room for the horse of Gabriela's dreams (& a dog...each!)

Yep I can imagine sitting here with my morning coffee & planning my garden!

There would even be room around the side or back for one of these to use as my studio!
Now that I have refuelled that dream somewhat - I'm off to the garage studio to play with my camera & torch!
